Can Invisalign straighten your jaw?

A guide to conditions treatable with this invisible brace

When it comes to straight teeth, many people assume that once you have reached 18 years of age, it is no longer feasible to undertake brace treatments.

However, this is not the case; thanks to advances in orthodontics, many adults are now able to have their misalignments treated successfully and without the hassle of wearing a metal aligner. How? With the invention of invisible braces!

While this brace was originally designed to alleviate more minor dental issues, thanks to advances in orthodontic technology, it is now able to treat a wider range of malocclusions and misalignments.

But there is a range of issues that Invisalign in Wagga cannot treat. In this article, this braces treatment range will be explored and all of your questions answered. Enjoy!

Can it straighten your jaw?

In a word, no.

Invisalign from Wagga cannot straighten or realign your jaws if they are not correctly aligned.

If your dentist feels that you would benefit from having your upper and lower jaws aligned, they may choose to fit a metal or orthodontic brace to achieve this.

I have an overbite- can it be treated with this brace?

Oh yes! Invisalign near Wagga can treat a mild to a moderate overbite.

However, you will have to get the green light on this from your dentist before proceeding; if you have a more severe overbite, this may not respond to an invisible aligner. While it may be tempting to try an invisible aligner that you may have seen advertised on the internet, this may actually cause more issues than it corrects, so it is best to go through your dental team for advice before beginning any orthodontic procedures.

Can it treat crowding without extraction?

It can, but once again, this is a decision that will need to be made by your dentist.

If you have a more extreme case of overcrowding, your dentist may want to alleviate the pressure by removing one or two of your teeth. This will make room for your teeth as they realign and should reduce any discomfort you feel during the process.

I have gaps between my teeth – can this brace alleviate them?

This will depend on what caused the gaps; if they are due to missing teeth, then this brace may not be suitable.

If they are caused by spacing issues but all (or most) of your teeth are present, then this brace will probably be able to treat them. Depending on the severity, this may take longer than an average treatment with this brace but it will be worth it in the long run!

When will I know that the brace is working?

Again, this will vary and will rely on you noticing the difference and the severity of the underlying problem being treated.

When a person with an average misalignment uses this brace, they may notice movement in the first 3-4 weeks. If it is a more minor issue being treated, then it may take longer to identify the movement of teeth.
